MDTdesign is a member of the Diamond Guild Australia and the Jeweller's Association of Australia Services MDTdesign offer a full range of jewellery services including: Valuations Cleaning & Polishing Resizing Re tipping Remodelling Insurance Replacement Clarity lmost all diamonds contain minute traces of non crystallized carbon known as inclusions. Clarity is the grading term used to indicate the extent to which a diamond is free of these inclusions. MDTdesign carry mainly VS (Very Small Inclusions) clarity diamonds but, as with colour, we are happy to work to your specifications. Colour Although diamonds cover the entire spectrum of colours including pink, champagne, blue green and intense yellow, most range from a faint yellow or brownish tint to the extremely valuable colourless. A colourless diamond is graded D and is extremely rare. MDTdesign carry mainly F and G colour diamonds, stones considered very fine white, however we are happy to source stones of higher or lower grades depending on your preference and budget. Carat Weight Unlike gold where carat refers to metal purity, in diamonds as in all precious stones carat refers to the weight. The word carat originated in past methods of weighing diamonds. One carat was the equivalent to one seed from a carob tree. This has since been standardised and one carat is now equal to 0.2 grams (one fifth of a gram). One carat is divided into 100 Points so that a diamond of 25 points is described as a quarter of a carat or 0.25 carats. Diamonds The 4Cs Though we work with all precious and semi-precious stones, Diamonds are our specialty at MDT Design. Diamonds are judged by four distinct factors known as the 4Cs. Diamond Guild MDT design are members of the Diamond Guild Australia (DGA), an association which has a reputation for integrity and ethical trade, both within the industry and in the public domain.
